Ulster are the current European champions. They whipped Zebre two weeks ago in Ireland, and Zebre is suffering serious injuries. So hopes were rather low when we went to watch the game. Italian rugby is not massively popular, so the stadium was pretty empty and quiet!
It was a gorgeous sunny day and so fun to watch with Lise, who doesn't care too much for rugby, but became very vocal when watching her friends play. Amazingly, Zebre won. Was a real shocker! It was one of the longest games of rugby I've ever watched.....it took well over two hours as the referee was rather particular and stopped the clock for everything! Oh man! I wouldn't have been so patient if it was raining!

Tom, Dries, Lise and I...the Guinness was not mine! |
After the match we went to the post game food and drinks area with the players. Thankfully after last week I was much calmer and composed.....generally! Meeting major International players, as well as a few from the Irish team, well......it still brought on the blushing and mega smiles!
We went for dinner in town that evening where I broke my normal no pork rule and got right into the Parma ham and prosciutto. Yum! We then joined some of the players which was fun. I am realising more how they are just normal people.....
